Information for Parents:Whilst your children will thoroughly enjoy their stay at Nant B.H. it is worth remembering that this is an educational visit, not a holiday. As well as participating in all the outdoor activities, students are encouraged to help out with the general day to day chores on a domestic level. We believe that activities such as bedroom tidying, table laying or floor sweeping play an important role in developing a sense of team spirit, self sufficiency and self respect, as much as our more adventurous activities do. Our 'Four C' ethos of Challenge, Co-operation, Consideration and communication extends into the dining room, the bedrooms, the classroom and the wider world. For some children the hardest challenge might be to try new food for the first time, or to make their bed. And then onto the exciting bit... the adventure activities! Your child may abseil off a cliff, slide down a waterfall or find their way through the the Forest! Everything is done with care and consideration for your child, who will be encouraged to overcome fears and anxieties, and never forced into anything they really don't want to do. As with all activities, the activities at Nant B.H. have a degree of inherent danger, but our expert outdoor staff ensure that our excellent 30-year safety record is maintained. An important element of the course is for students to learn to recognise what could be dangerous, and then how to keep themselves safe in that environment. If you are at all concerned please contact the centre where we will try to put your mind at rest. We're sure that your child will thoroughly enjoy their stay with us, and will come home buzzing with memories! |
